lol the motor blew, it has nothing to do with shifting. when you dyno a car, you keep it in one gear.

well duh, you have to shift it to get it up to a higher gear, then you gas it.

you think you dyno a car in 1st gear? lol for manual cars it's usually in 3rd or 4th, or whatever gear has a 1:1 ratio. auto cars are usually 3rd gear.

on second thought, maybe you are just confused about how a dyno works. like i said, you want to get your car in a 1:1 gear ratio so it has the most accurate numbers to the wheels. you HAVE to shift the car while you get it up to speed, and in the right gear.
